This online Curriculum Handbook outlines the curriculum requirements, choices and opportunities students have at Aberfoyle Park High School (APHS).
Students undertake study within the mandated frameworks of the Australian Curriculum for Years 7 to Year 10 and the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) for Year 11 and Year 12.
IGNITE students study the Australian Curriculum differentiated for gifted learners, (Years 7-10) and individually negotiated hybrid SACE Stage 1 and 2 or IBDP courses in Years 11 and 12. For more information please go to the IGNITE at APHS page.

Making Subject Choices
During Term 3 students will be selecting subjects for the following year.
It is an important time of the year when students and parents/caregivers will make decisions together about the subjects to be studied in 2024.
In preparation for selecting subjects for next year, we suggest that parents/caregivers and students discuss the following:
- Short and long term goals
- Interests and aspirations – both in and beyond school, including further study or careers
- Strengths and passions
- Subject achievements thus far (students should discuss with Care Group and subject teachers)
- Potential university/TAFE courses, including any required and assumed knowledge for university or tertiary study
- Possible Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses
- Subjects at Aberfoyle High School to help prepare for possible future pathways
Students will be supported through the course counselling process via Career Development sessions in Wellbeing for Learning lessons, and during daily Care Group sessions.
Parents will also receive specific year level information about the course counselling process. Early in term 3, parents will be emailed links to video files which explain the process. The information will also be available on the school website under the Curriculum Information tab from this time.
